Residential Student Program Application

Before you embark on this student journey it is important to know that Esalen is located in remote Big Sur, a rural and rugged environment in Central California, Monterey is the closest major town, one hour by car.

Esalen is Community Living; we live in close proximity and share our space in dormitory style accommodations, and enjoy the property with more than one hundred guests visiting every Friday and Sunday.

You will participate in twenty-six hours of work per week. While performing the duties in your service department, you must be able to maneuver on uneven ground, carry and lift up to thirty pounds. Many of the activities require bending over and repetitive motion.

This twenty-eight day program begins at 4:00pm of the first Sunday and ends at 4:30pm of the final Sunday. Your commitment is expected to the whole program including all workshop hours.
