Relational Gestalt Practice: The Transformative Power of Emotion
With Dorothy Charles
February 17 - 22, 2019
Our sense of who we are develops in connection with others, and although we cannot change the past, we can change what we came to believe about our capacity for love and belonging. Such beliefs can shift in a group that meets our needs for attunement and understanding, supports us in identifying and expressing our emotions, and which is committed to practicing kindness, acceptance, and honesty.
Experiencing and expressing emotions are integral to being alive. Learning to fully experience feelings and to express them in healthy ways enables us to have more pleasurable and fulfilling relationships. Although we cannot change the past, we can change what we have come to believe about our capacity for love and belonging.
Over the course of this workshop, we’ll seek to learn skills to improve our ability to make contact, develop and track awareness of our emotions and sensations, learn to express and practice communicating needs and wants effectively, and discover habitual relational patterns that prevent us from cultivating the type of contact we want. The workshop will include time for basic gestalt awareness practices, a mixture of didactic and experiential exercises, as well as individual “open seat” sessions with Dorothy and with the support of the group.
