Thank you for your interest in Esalen Institute, a leading non-profit center exploring and realizing human potential through experience, education, and research. We work toward the realization of a more just, creative, and sustainable world, seeking answers to questions unlikely to be explored by traditional universities and religions.

Locals Rate: A locals rate option is available to those who reside in Big Sur or the Monterey Peninsula (a valid ID with a Big Sur or Monterey Peninsula address must be shown upon arrival). Please note the locals rate does not include overnight accommodations. To book, please call Reservations at (831) 667-3000. About Esalen Accommodations

Esalen accommodations do not include televisions, alarm clocks, phones, cell phone reception, or internet access. Premium WiFi is available only in our Point Houses, Premium Plus King Rooms, and Premium Wooden Yurts.
All private accommodations provide towels, bath products, and bed linens. Sleeping Bag Spaces provide towels and bath products, however, guests will need to bring their own sleeping bag/linens, and pillows.
Esalen does not provide hairdryers or other toiletries in the rooms. Many necessities and accouterments can be purchased in the Conley Bookstore.
Esalen aspires to honor your special requests, however, we do not guarantee that they will be accommodated.

Sleeping Bag Space
All-inclusive for one person in a shared lodging space which includes all classes, meals, tuition and access to the oceanside hot spring baths. Surrender yourself to the natural and restorative beauty of Big Sur. Sleeping Bag Spaces house up to 6 people of all genders with a maximum stay of 7 consecutive days. We cannot guarantee you will be located in the building of your choice as space is limited. Guests are responsible for bringing their own sleeping bag, blanket, pads, pillows, etc. Esalen will provide towels and face cloths. Some Sleeping Bag Spaces do not include a shower, though communal shower facilities are available at the Esalen Hot Springs and private shower facilities are available near the Art Barn. Sleeping Bag Spaces are inaccessible between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. as they are located in meeting room spaces where Esalen activities—scheduled and unscheduled—take place; access to the room is not permitted while these activities are in process. Note: Due to the shared nature of Sleeping Bag Spaces, service animals cannot be accommodated in Sleeping Bag Spaces. If you require ADA accommodations, please contact us at (831) 667-3000 or info@esalen.org to discuss how we may best support your needs. Choosing shared accommodations means accepting the presence of the sounds of others sharing the space.
