With Janis Cooke Newman
March 3 - 8, 2019
In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.

We know that practicing mindfulness meditation lowers stress, improves health, strengthens relationships and increases happiness. But did you know that practicing mindfulness can also make you a more creative and skillful writer?
This five-day combination writing workshop and meditation retreat invites writers and meditators of all levels to delve deeply into both practices. The retreat’s guided meditations have been designed to feed your writing, helping you to be present to experience, connect to the body and access emotion and empathy — all important writing tools. You’ll find the workshop’s prompted bursts of free writing especially useful for tapping into your creative energy, bypassing that pesky internal judge and bringing out your most original and riskiest writing. The daily feedback sessions have been created to provide a safe, supportive — and fun — time to share your work.
